Sammy had been suffering from congenital bone disease for years. Most recently he has had trouble getting up from or sitting down in a chair. He was in considerable pain. Friday night he took a tumble and hit his head hard, damaged a shoulder and greatly aggravated his back. He chose not to seek medical attention and was pretty much prone all weekend. Whether the fall was a contributing factor is unknown.
